Akihabara ,also known as Akiba, is a district in the center of Tokyo that is famous for many electronic stores. In recent years, Akihabara has been recognized as the center of Japanese otaku culture,(Japanese pop culture like anime) and nowadays many shops and facilities specializing in anime and manga are distributed among electronic stores in the area.
Akihabara has undergone major redevelopment over the years, including the renovation/expansion of Akihabara Station and the construction of a new building in the neighborhood. One of the newly opened buildings is a giant Yodobashi electronics store and Akihabara Crossfield, which aims to promote Akihabara as the center of electronics technology and trade in the world.
